The Department of Psychology at MES Asmabi College, P. Vemballur, organized a Recreational Therapeutic Workshop for Teachers on 4th November 2024, addressing the critical theme of "Mental Health in the Workplace." The workshop, held at the Old Seminar Hall, was inaugurated with a presidential address by Dr. K.P. Sumedhan, Self-Financing Director of MES Asmabi College, who highlighted the importance of mental well-being for educators in managing the demands of their profession. The session, led by Mr. Lathif Penath, HOD of the Department of Psychology, focused on combating teacher burnout and fostering a supportive work environment. The agenda covered understanding the signs, causes, and impact of burnout, along with practical stress management strategies and recreational therapeutic techniques. Through interactive group activities and open discussions, participants were introduced to tools for maintaining emotional resilience, enhancing workplace satisfaction, and building peer support. Teachers actively engaged in the exercises, reflecting on their experiences and exploring ways to achieve work-life balance. The resource person emphasized the importance of recognizing workplace stressors early and adopting self-care strategies to prevent burnout. The workshop concluded with a discussion on key takeaways and a vote of thanks to the organizers and leadership. The event successfully provided teachers with valuable insights and actionable strategies to enhance their mental health and create a healthier, more collaborative work environment.
