On November 01, 2024, MES Asmabi College's Department of Malayalam and Folk Lore Club, in collaboration with the Kerala Folk Lore Academy, organized a seminar and ritual performance “Theyyatam”. The event commenced at 10 am with an inaugural ceremony led by Dr.Koya Kaapad, Vise Chairman of  the Kerala Folk Lore Academy. The college princial in charge Dr. Reena Muhammed  presided over the function.Following the inauguration, Dr. EK Govinda Varma Raja, a renowned folklore researcher and former head of Calicut University School of Folk Lore Studies, delivered a keynote address on the topic "Folklore studies – Contemporary & Cultural experiences" His speech delved  in to the historical and cultural contexts of rituals, their symbolic meanings, and the personal and communal experiences they foster
