  The Class PTA of I semester was conducted on 21st February 2024. Faculties dealing with languages, core and complementary courses were present. The agenda of the same included student performance in I semster internal examination, feedback collection, deliberations on attendance and discipline along with other items pertaining to student progress.               The aggregate pass percentage of the class in I semester internal examination was a mere 58 an all time low in recent times. The general tendency of the students to bunk classes and bias towards unnecessary wandering in and outside the campus was communicated to the parents by HoD. Apart from widespread failure in Biochemistry and Zoology, a general trend  seen in all batches, the 2023 admitted batch was found to perform very badly in courses of study.   I. Performance Analysis: The result analysis of first internal examination was taken up for discussion. The performance each student in comparison with the overall performance of the class and plus two marks was evaluated and communicated to their parents. The following students recorded full pass (overall percentage is given in parentheses). 1. Sadhiya P S (83). 2. Nivedita H (81). 3. Stervin Menachery (78).   The following students were identified as least performing:    Abhimanue P  (Roll No. 12, admitted under SC quota). Recorded a pass only in Malayalam. The student was noted for least concern in studies and involvement in ghearo incident of the Principal. His mother, a staff in Kerala Police Department promised to keep her son disciplined and make him well in studies.   Sharafas T S (Roll No.23, admitted under community quota- he was advised to focus on academics as he was found to spent too much time in campus activities other than studies.  The student did not get a comfortable pass even in second language papers(Malayalam). He too was involved in ghearoing the Principal. His mother expressed her helplessness in controlling his son as his father is working in Dubai. The tutor recorded his father’s contact details and decided to inform the issue to him.   Mohammed Mehfoos P M (Roll No. 24) – failed in all subjects except English course A01. His father requested special attention and remedial classes to rectify the student’s poor performance.   Harinarayanan C U (Roll No. 08). His father  wanted the department teachers to have a special care on him to improve his marks. He scored very low in English and failed in Biochemistry and Zoology.   Other discussions held:   Difficulties if any in learning faced each student were discussed. So also parents and students were asked to freely express their opinion/comments regarding teaching methods adopted by all teachers. Some of the parents requested to distribute printed notes to students for courses where text books are not available, especially the core course and Biochemistry. The faculties agreed to follow the same within 4 days.   Parents of poor and slow learners were given advice to have a special attention on them. The reasons for failure in subjects mentioned by majority of students were difficulty in studying the lessons in English language and the dearth of time in preparing for the examination.  Progress reports were got signed from all parents. Tutor’s remarks were recorded wherever necessary.   Feedback collection: Parent feedback from parents on curriculum (bilingual) and college infrastructure and other matters (in Malayalam) were collected.
