P. Sumedhan, Director of the self-financing departments at MES Asmabi College, delivered the presidential address, emphasizing the urgency of addressing mental health issues and erasing the stigma surrounding suicide. Dr. Sumedhan highlighted the pivotal role of trained gatekeepers in creating a supportive environment where individuals feel encouraged to seek help. The session was led by Mr. Lathif Penath, a seasoned Student Counsellor and Head of Department (HOD). The training concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by a faculty member from the Department of Psychology. Participants expressed their gratitude for the opportunity to attend such an insightful session. They left the event with a renewed commitment to being proactive gatekeepers in their communities.
