The PG Department of Physics, MES Asmabi College, Kodungallur, organized a Skywatch Programme in association with the Breakthrough Science Society, Thrissur on 3 February 2026 from 6.30 p.m. to 8.30 p.m. The programme was conducted with the objective of creating scientific awareness and promoting interest in astronomy among students and the public. The session provided participants with an opportunity to observe celestial objects and understand basic astronomical concepts through direct sky observation. Members of the Breakthrough Science Society guided the participants by explaining the identification of stars, constellations, and visible planets in the night sky. They also introduced fundamental concepts related to planetary motion, phases of the Moon, and seasonal changes in the night sky. Telescopic observation was one of the main attractions of the programme, enabling students to closely observe prominent celestial bodies. The resource persons explained the working of telescopes and the importance of observational astronomy in understanding the universe. The interactive nature of the session encouraged students to actively engage in discussions and clarify their doubts related to astronomy and space science.
