The Resource Person, Dr. Anvar Ali took over the key note session for 3 hours which also included an interactive session of 45 minutes. He explained about the various aspects of aquaculture. ‘One fish can make your life’ was his punch line. Instead of blaming the course about joblessness, students should try to study atleast one fish in depth and find their livelihood from it. About the 36,000 species available only 20 fishes are being bred in Kerala. There are many more out there waiting to be studied. Sir explained the various modern techniques that were being used to identify and classify fishes including CT scans. The origin of scientific names like Etroplus suratensis with its roots in Surat made taxonomy interesting to the beginners. The session was concluded at 2pm with rich feedbacks from the students. Sir also agreed to help out the students regarding their research interests
