In connection with World Environment Day 2025, we organized an impactful "Mission Zero Plastic—Clean Shore, Clear Future" Beach Clean-up Program in collaboration with Thalikulam Grama Panchayath. The event was held on June 5, 2025, at Snehatheeram Beach, a prominent tourist destination in Thrissur district. The program was inaugurated with a welcome address and environmental awareness speech by Shafna A. S., Head of the Department, who emphasized the role of youth in sustainable environmental practices and the importance of preserving natural tourist destinations like beaches. A total of 25 students from the department, along with 4 faculty members, actively participated in the clean-up drive. The beach area was thoroughly cleaned as part of the activity. Participants collected various types of waste, including plastic wrappers, bottles, glass pieces, metal scraps, and biodegradable litter. Waste was carefully segregated into plastic and other categories for proper disposal. After the segregation process, the collected waste was handed over to the Haritha Karma Sena, the official waste management team under the Thalikulam Panchayath, ensuring the materials were disposed of in an environmentally friendly manner. As a gesture of appreciation and to promote health consciousness among participants, refreshing drinks were provided at the end of the activity. The program not only contributed to the cleanliness of a key tourism site but also instilled a strong sense of environmental responsibility among the students. It was a meaningful initiative to promote eco-friendly tourism practices and community involvement in conservation.
