The Bhoomitrasena Club, in collaboration with the Research Department of Botany, IQAC, and the institution’s Green Initiatives, organized a highly engaging Workshop and Exhibition on Eco-Friendly Products on March 26, 2025, at the New Seminar Hall. The event, which witnessed the participation of 55 enthusiastic attendees, was a part of the ongoing efforts to promote environmentally responsible practices and support the institution’s commitment to sustainability. The resource person for the session was Ms. Anu Kannanunni, a well-known entrepreneur in the field of natural cosmetics. Her insightful talk shed light on the urgent need to shift towards eco-friendly alternatives, particularly in the cosmetics industry. She began by sharing her inspiring entrepreneurial journey and the motivations behind her shift to producing natural, chemical-free products. Her discussion focused on the dangers of synthetic chemicals used in conventional cosmetics and the environmental damage they cause. Through the workshop, Ms. Kannanunni emphasized the significance of adopting green alternatives, both for personal health and environmental well-being. She introduced the audience to a variety of natural ingredients such as herbal extracts, essential oils, and organic butters, which can be used to create safe, effective, and eco-conscious skincare products. Participants were guided through hands-on demonstrations to prepare simple items like lip balms, face masks, and body scrubs using organic materials. In alignment with the institution’s Green Initiatives, the session also addressed sustainable practices such as minimizing waste, reusing packaging, and supporting ethical, eco-friendly brands. This holistic approach aimed to instill a deeper understanding of how small, conscious lifestyle changes can significantly contribute to a greener planet. Overall, the workshop was a great success, providing both theoretical insights and practical skills. It highlighted the importance of making environmentally sound choices and reinforced the institution’s mission to foster sustainability through education and awareness. The event not only educated the participants but also inspired them to become advocates of green living.
