The Department of Mass Communication organized an interactive workshop titled Design It Right – Poster & Brochure Making with Canva on 4th February at the Media Lab. The workshop was conducted using a peer teaching methodology, where senior students trained their juniors in designing posters and brochures using Canva, a widely used online graphic design platform.The session began with a welcome speech by Sunaina M Nazar, Head of the Department, who emphasized the importance of visual communication in media and how mastering design tools can enhance students' creative and professional skills. Senior students Krishna AB, Sree Vishnu KS, and Ramshad PR served as resource persons and guided participants through: Basics of Canva and its user-friendly interface Designing visually appealing posters with effective color schemes and typography Creating professional brochures with structured layouts Tips and tricks for enhancing design quality and branding Students had hands-on practice, exploring different features of Canva while working on live projects. The interactive format allowed participants to experiment with design elements and receive real-time feedback from the resource persons. The workshop saw the active participation of around 50 students from all three years of the Mass Communication program. The peer teaching approach not only facilitated skill development but also fostered collaboration and knowledge-sharing among students. The session concluded with a Q&A segment, where students discussed creative design strategies and industry applications of poster and brochure making. The event was well-received, with participants appreciating the practical approach and engaging learning experience.Design It Right – Poster & Brochure Making with Canva successfully equipped students with essential design skills and reinforced the department’s commitment to hands-on learning and peer mentorship in media education
