The Breast Cancer Detection Camp program, titled  (Sadhairyam), was successfully conducted at MES Asmabi College, P. Vemballur, from November 26 to November 30, 2024. Organized in collaboration with the Cochin Cancer Society and Health Aid, Mathilakam, the initiative aimed to raise awareness about the prevention and early detection of breast and cervical cancer. The program witnessed active participation from students, staff, and the local community, highlighting the collective commitment toward promoting health awareness and proactive measures. The program was presided over by Dr. Reena Mohamed P. M., Principal, and inaugurated by Dr. Alexander Jacob, IPS, on November 26, 2024, during the college's alumni award ceremony held in the college auditorium. It was coordinated by Dr. Princy Francis, Ms. Krishna Priya M, and Ms. Raseena, Assistant Professors of Commerce, under the guidance of Dr. Sumedhan K P, Self-Financing Director, and Ms. Noorudheen from HealthAid Trust Mathilakam. Technicians Ms. Shabana Nishad and Ms. Roshna T H from the Cochin Cancer Society conducted eye breast scanning during the camp. To ensure the camp reached those who needed it the most, a Google form survey was distributed among the local community, college students, and their families. Based on the survey responses, 130 women were shortlisted for participation.   Out of the shortlisted individuals, 105 women underwent eye breast scanning during the camp, and four were identified for further evaluation through mammograms, which are scheduled to take place in December 2024. The initiative was widely praised for its impact in educating participants about cancer prevention and encouraging timely screenings. It reinforced the importance of community participation in health-related initiatives and showcased MES Asmabi College's dedication to fostering a healthier society.
