Five students from III Year B.Sc. Aquaculture—Ms. Lenitha Binu, Mr. Prince K P, Mr. Vinmeshkumar K A, Mr. Adithyan Anilkumar, and Ms. Devaganga A S—attended a five-day training programme titled "Orientation on Responsible Fishing and Bycatch Reduction Devices". The event was organized by ICAR-CIFT, Kochi (Central Institute of Fisheries Technology) from December 16 to 20, 2024, under the Scheduled Caste Sub Plan (SCSP) initiative. The programme aimed to enhance the participants' knowledge and skills in sustainable fishing practices and the use of bycatch reduction devices. Through a series of interactive sessions, practical demonstrations, and group activities, students gained hands-on experience in innovative fishing techniques aligned with environmental conservation. A highlight of the event was the Best Innovative Trap Design Competition, where Ms. Lenitha Binu showcased exceptional creativity and expertise, securing the First Prize among the participants. Her achievement brought recognition to the group and underscored the quality of training provided.
