The Department of Mathematics at MES Asmabi College, in collaboration with the District Legal Service Authority, Thrissur, and the Taluk Legal Service Committee, Kodungallur, organized a legal awareness class on the Domestic Violence Act. The session was held on October 8, 2024, at 2:00 PM in the college seminar hall. Advocate U.K. Jaferghan, a panel lawyer with the Taluk Legal Service Committee, served as the keynote speaker. He provided insights into the legal provisions and protections available under the Domestic Violence Act, focusing on educating students about their rights and the importance of legal recourse in cases of domestic violence. The program aimed to foster awareness among students regarding the significance of legal support in preventing and addressing domestic violence. The session was well-received, with attendees actively engaging in discussions and raising questions. Dr. Reena Muhammed P.M., the college principal, and Smt. Nasreen A., Head of the Department, supported the event, underscoring the importance of legal literacy in educational institutions.
