Botanical Garden of Medicinal Plants and Endangered Trees was inaugurated on World Environment Day 2024. The Botany Research Department of MES Asmabi College, Hornbill Foundation Research Extension Centre, is scientifically implementing the restoration of various habitats and landscapes, has taken this initiative this year to develop a herbal garden and arboretum at MES Asmabi College campus supported by the State Medicinal Plants Board and the National Medicinal Plants Board as an important step in the ongoing projects. Principal Prof. Dr. A. Biju, inaugurated the ceremony in the auspicious presence of our chief guest Adv. K. M. Navas and Principal Dr. Reena Mohamed. Programme coordinator Dr. Amitha Bachan K. H. detailed the programme. Dr. KP Sumedhan (Director Self-financing), Dr. K. Kesavan (HoD Aquaculture), Captain Bindil (Staff Secretary), Dr. Girija T.P. (HoD Botany) and Ms. Devika M Anilkumar ecorestoration programmes coordinator participated in the planting and restoration ceremony. The rare saplings were developed as part of ecorestoration project supported by Hornbill Foundation and Prakriti Fellowship for developing seedlings and ecorestoration.
