The CEtC, Research Extension centre of the Western Ghats Hornbill Foundation at the Research Department of Botany MES Asmabi College provided technical support to develop the Sree Narayana Puram Grama Panchayath as Net Zero Carbon Panchayath. The CEtC has developed a strategic plan for biodiversity conservation, ecosystem profiling and multistakeholder-involved ecological restoration of various ecosystems and the Peoples Biodiversity Register for the Panchayath. This formed the foundation for Carbon estimate and net zero carbon declaration for the Grama Panchayath. The process was declared in the one-day seminar organized by the Panchayath which is inaugurated by the Mr. Davis Master, President Thrissur block Panchayath. Mr. KV Govindan, member of the Kerala State Biodiversity board released Peoples Biodiversity Register (PBR) phase II for the Panchayath. This has released with the technical support of the CEtC and turned to be the first PBR for the Second phase with revised guidelines released for the state. The Mr. Mohanan, President of the SN Puram Grama Panchayath declared the initiative for preparation of LSG level Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan for the Panchayath with support of KSBB and technical support of the CEtC. Dr. Amitha Bachan KH of CEtC made a presentation of the biodiversity conservation and ecorestoration programs implemented towards achieving the Net Zero Carbon target. Dr. (Prof.) A Biju, made his remarks regarding the joint ventures with the college and Panchayath through CEtC towards safeguarding the environment as well as its sustainability while involving the local community through MGNREGA.
