Time: 10:30 to 11:30 AM As part of the World Sexual Health Day observance, the Department of Psychology at MES Asmabi College, P. Vemballur, conducted a pivotal Sexual Health Education Program titled "THE BIG TALK" on 13th September 2023. This enlightening program was spearheaded by Priyanka Gibin, a distinguished Psychologist and licensed special educator with notable expertise in sexual health education andĀ designed to provide awareness of sexual health, to normalise the concept of sex and to learn and understand in depth of different concepts of sexuality. This program aims to empower individuals with knowledge and skills to make informed decisions about their sexual health. The one-hour session, held in the college's Seminar Hall, aimed to disseminate crucial knowledge on sexual health, debunk myths surrounding sex, and elucidate various facets of sexuality. The initiative was designed to empower the college's student body, comprising 60 attendees, with the necessary information and skills to make informed decisions regarding their sexual health. The program commenced with a prayer, setting a solemn tone for the event. Mr. Lathif Penath, the Head of the Department of Psychology at MES Asmabi College, extended a warm welcome to all participants, speakers, and dignitaries. The presidential address was delivered by Dr. A Biju, Principal of MES Asmabi College, who highlighted the importance of sexual health education in today's academic curriculum. Dr. K.P. Sumedhan, the Self-financing Director of MES Asmabi College, felicitated the event, endorsing the need for open discussions on sexual health among the youth. The vote of thanks was proposed by Ms. Sabitha V.A, Assistant Professor of the Psychology Department, who expressed gratitude towards all the contributors and participants for making the event a success. "THE BIG TALK" proved to be an engaging and informative session, significantly contributing to the normalization and understanding of sexual health concepts among the students of MES Asmabi College.
