SEMINAR REPORT ON IPR SEMINAR CONDUCTED BY THE DEPARTMENT OF MASS COMMUNICATION AND JOURNALISM   Date: 22nd February 2020   Venue: Seminar hall, M.E.S.Asmabi College   Introduction:   The Department of Mass Communication and Journalism conducted a seminar on the topic of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) on the 22nd of February 2020. The event aimed to educate students and participants about the importance and intricacies of IPR. The seminar was graced by the presence of esteemed personalities, including Dr. Sumedan K.P., the Director of the Self-Finance Wing, and Dr. Ajims P. Muhammed, the beloved Principal. The event was organized to provide insights into the world of IPR and featured a prominent resource person, Adv. Abdul Nabeel, a distinguished lawyer practicing at the High Court of Kerala.   Welcome Address:   The seminar began with a warm welcome by Dr. Sumedan K.P., the Director of the Self-Finance Wing. He expressed his delight in hosting the event and extended a warm welcome to all the participants, emphasizing the significance of understanding Intellectual Property Rights in today's world.   Presidential address:   Dr. Ajims P. Muhammed, the beloved Principal, presided over the seminar. He provided a motivating and inspiring speech, emphasizing the role of education in fostering innovation and creativity. Dr.Ajims P. Muhammed highlighted the importance of protecting intellectual creations through IPR and the value it adds to society.   Resource Person: Adv. Abdul Nabeel:   Ms. Sunaina M. Nazar introduced the resource person for the seminar, Adv. Abdul Nabeel, who is a distinguished lawyer at the High Court of Kerala. Adv. Nabeel holds a Bachelor's Degree in Commerce, a Bachelor's Degree in Law, and a Master's Degree in Law. Notably, he has achieved the distinction of being one of the youngest lawyers to receive Distinguished Membership in the International Council of Jurists (London). His specialization in Corporate, Civil, and Banking Laws made him an ideal resource person for the seminar.   Adv. Abdul Nabeel's presentation was both informative and engaging. He started by explaining the various types of Intellectual Properties, including patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets. He discussed the significance and practical use of each type in different industries.   He then delved into when and why individuals or companies should apply for Intellectual Property Rights. He highlighted the importance of protecting one's intellectual creations to prevent unauthorized use and ensure that the creators are duly rewarded for their innovations.   Adv. Nabeel also provided insights into the application process for Intellectual Properties, depending on the specific needs of individuals or companies. He explained the legal procedures, documentation, and the role of the legal system in enforcing IPR.     Audience Participation:   The seminar witnessed active participation, with nearly 60 students and participants attending. Many of them asked insightful questions and engaged in discussions with Adv. Abdul Nabeel, seeking clarification on various aspects of IPR.   Release of Student-Made Short Films:   The event also featured the release of short films produced by students of the Mass Communication and Journalism department. These films highlighted the creative talents of the students and further emphasized the importance of protecting intellectual property in the entertainment industry.   Conclusion:   The IPR seminar conducted by the Department of Mass C
