HIGHLIGHTS: DATE AND TIME: 03/02/2023, 10 AM TO 1PM VENUE: Kaipamangalam Fisheries HSS Auditorium. COLLABORATION: kaipamngalam Fisheries HSS RESOURCE PERSON: Dr. Dhanya P R, Assistant Professor in Aquaculture,                            M E S Asmabi College. STUDENT PARTICIPATION: 30  - Male 6, Female 24 as trainer from college  and 50 students of Plus One (VHSE Aquaculture) as trainees– Male – 22,  Female 28. TOTAL student PARTICIPANTS: 80   30 students (from I, II and II Yr. Aquaculture) and one faculty (Dr. Dhanya P R) gave aquarium fabrication training (‘Aquarium Making’) to Plus one students of Kaipamangalam Fisheries   Higher Secondary School on 03/02/2023. The workshop took place at Kaipamangalam HSS. Guided by the students, seven tanks were constructed in the workshop. 50 students of the school participated. The programme was organised as a part of extension and experiential learning agenda of the department. For this the students of the department were given prior training in tank glass sheet cutting, finishing and tank making on two days prior to the workshop. Two of the constructed tanks were given as gift to the students of the school. Students transported the materials for aquarium construction to Kaipamangalam Fisheries HSS on the day. Dr. Dhanya P R explained the significance of Aquarium and Ornamental fish as a growing business of tremendous opportunities as entrepreneurs. She gave a detailed lecture on various steps in aquarium making and ornamental fish culture and trade. Thereafter the trainer students team from the college grouped the trainees according to demonstrate step-by-step procedure for aquarium fabrication.   After the demo session the trainee students were directed to construct 5 aquaria using the materials. Under the supervision of the Dr. Dhanya and student team leade Sri Alister C S the trainees were able to make 5 aquaria each of size 30 cm square. Feedback on the programme was taken from the trainees and trainers. The trainers feedback was indicative of their confidence in teaching others, the way of making aquaria.
