$$ students of V Semester B.Sc. Aquaculture (2020 Admission Batch) students  made a field visit to K. M. Fisheries, a seafood processing plant  on 20/12/2022. K.M. Fisheries is one of the fore front marine exporters in Kerala. It is located near the main harbour of Munambam, Azhikode, Thrissur District. K.M. Fisheries is now one of the main exporters with good reputation for excellence and dependability in market. They constantly introduce new technology to deliver best quality products. The company got EU Approval and HACCP Certification. Through this HACCP Certification Company drive the quality standards'. The company got good appreciation from both Non EU and EU Countries. The production capacity is 49 MTPD and the Store capacity is 150 MT. The main products are cuttle fish, squid, and fishes. The Plant constructed such as pre- processing, processing and storage facilities under one roof. Their brand name K.M.F is very acceptable brand name in EU and NON-EU Countries. The company has well established and well equipped Quality Control Lab. The company has well qualified personnel's they ensure the safety and quality of the products at the very beginning stage to final stage of production. The students visited various divisions of the plant such as raw material handling section, Ice Plant, Microbiology and QC lab, Processing Hall and Packing section. They had interaction with technical and other expert personnel in the plant. They studied the practices of processing Cuttle Fish and Shrimps by freezing methods. The team of students was accompanied by Sri. Shibu A Nair, Associate Professor and Dr. Dhanya P R, Assistant Professor. Mr. Shaji, Production Manager and Mr. Najeeb, M D of the plant guided the team.
