Environment Day celebration 2023

The World Environment Day Celebration- 2023 programme was organized by the Research and PG Department of Botany in association with Bhoomitrasena Club, Science Forum and Green initiatives at MES Asmabi College on 5th June 2023. The event aimed to create awareness about biodiversity and its conservation in the modern world. The programme included two invited lectures. First lecture was by Dr. Joby Paul, Assistant Professor, Department of botany at St. Thomas College, Thrissur. He delivered a talk on the topic "Biodiversity in the Anthropocene." The talk aimed to provide insights into the current state of biodiversity and the challenges it faces in the Anthropocene era. The second lecture was by Dr. Alfred Joe, Assistant Professor, Department of botany at St. Joseph’s College, Irinjalakkuda. He delivered a talk on the topic "Biodiversity of Northeast India with Special Emphasis on Wild Bananas." The talk focused on the unique biodiversity found in Northeast India, particularly highlighting the diversity of wild banana species.

All the students listened carefully the lectures delivered by the invited guests and they interacted well with the students. Thus the programme was a grant success. It was successful in promoting awareness about biodiversity and its conservation. The talks delivered by Dr. Joby Paul and Dr. Alfred Joe provided valuable insights and enhanced the understanding of the participants. The event not only highlighted the importance of environmental conservation but also showcased the dedication of the college towards creating a sustainable future.

Overall, the Environment Day Programme was a significant step towards fostering environmental consciousness among students and encouraging them to actively participate in biodiversity conservation efforts.
