Community Based Ecorestoration of Degraded Mangrove Ecosystems
The community based restoration of degraded mangrove ecosystems in the three wards (1, 22, 23) of Eriyad Grama Panchayath has been carried through MGNREGA scheme by the technical support of CEtC of Hornbill Foundation. The program was inaugurated by planting mangrove sapling by the chief guest Shri. K.P. Rajan, President Eriyad Grama Panchayath and Mr. Febin Francis, Thrissur District Coordinator Kerala State Biodiversity Board. Dr. K.H. Amitha Bachan then gave his speech and encouraged the volunteers from the Bhoomithrasea club of MES Asmabi College with his motivating words emphasising the requisite of niche specific ecological restoration of degraded ecosystems by the involvement of local community. A total of 32 students were volunteered in the mangrove planting in the 1, 22, 23 wards of Eriyad Grama Panchayath
