The Right to Information Act, 2005 (No. 22 of 2005) has been enacted by the Parliament andhas come into force from 15 June, 2005. This Act intends to set out the practical regimeof Right to Information for citizens to enable them to access the information under thecontrol of public authority in order to promote transparency and accountability in the workingof such authority. Section 2(h) of the Act defines “public authority” as any authority or bodyorinstitution of self-governance established or constituted by or under the constitutionor bylaw made by the Parliament or any state legislature or by notification issuedbytheappropriate government. It includes body owned, controlled or substantially financedbythegovernment. The applications under the RTI Act along with a postal order/demand draft for Rs. 10.00obtained in favour of Principal, M E S Asmabi College, may be sent to the Public InformationOfficer (PIO) or handed over in college office during working hours. Copies of documentswill be charged according to the rate fixed by the State Information Commission, Kerala.
