Overview
The Department of Digital Film Production at MES Asmabi College, established in 2018, offers the B.Voc Digital Film Production programme under the University of Calicut and is the only institution under the University to offer this specialised programme. From the academic year 2025 onwards, the programme follows a four-year undergraduate structure aligned with national higher education reforms, with a curriculum designed to foster experiential and skill-based learning.
The programme emphasizes studio-based practice, On-the-Job Training, project work, and the integration of Minor courses to promote interdisciplinary competencies. The department is equipped with professional digital cameras, production accessories, and advanced computer laboratories with industry-standard post-production software. Teaching–learning methods integrate theory, workshops, seminars, and project-based learning, supported by experienced faculty and industry practitioners. Industry exposure is strengthened through industrial visits to major film studios such as Ramoji Rao Film City and academic exposure visits to film festivals including the International Film Festival of India (IFFI), Goa, and the International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK), preparing graduates for careers in cinema, television, advertising, digital media, and allied creative industries.
